Thavala Vadai

Raw rice-1 cup
Boiled rice-1 cup
Channa dhal-1 cup
Urad dhal-1 cup
Yellow moongh dhal-1 cup
Masoor Dhal-1 cup
(You can also add Thur dhal)
Grated coconut-1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Curry leaves-little
Red chillies-3
Chopped onion-little(Optional)
I didn't use it.
Oil-to deep fry
Soak rice,red chillies,channa & Masoor dhal together.Soak moongh dal & Urad dhal separately.First grind the rice ,red chillies,coconut & dhal to a coarse thick paste(rawa consistency).Grind urad dhal separately till fluffy.Now mix moongh dhal(do not grind),urad dhal batter,hing, curry leaves,salt & jeera to the rice batter.Mix it well.Heat oil in a pan take a ladle of batter & pour it.Deep fry it till crisp & golden brown on both sides.
Note: Do not grind it like a smooth paste & watery.Your vadas will not be crispy.
