Moong & Turnip leaf dhal







These Turnips are from my friends garden wow!!!!!!!!!!!! i can't believe we can grow these type of vegetables in a desert like Arizona.I have tried a Dhal using the leaves of the turnips.It was good.Why don't you try here is the recipe.

Ingredients.
Turnip leaves-1 bunch(chopped)
Whole moong dhal-1 cup
Salt-to taste
Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
Onion-1/4th
Tomato-1
Garlic-2
For tempering
Oil-1tsp
Mustard-1/4tsp
Jeera-1tsp
Uraddal-1/4tsp
Channadal-1/4tsp
Hing-1/4tsp
Red chilles-4nos
Method
Soak the dal overnight.In a pressure cooker add the above ingredients except tempering, till done.Mash it well.Temper it serve it with rice or chapathies.
Tips
These leaves are rich in Vit.A,If you are concerned about rheumatoid arthritis, turnip greens are a good food to add to your shopping list.

I love gardening.Some times its impossible in an apartment.But i have tried my best to have a small home garden inside my patio.Iam so thrilled to see my first Rose!!!!

Red Bell Pepper Chutney / Red Capsicum Chutney

Ingredients
Red bell pepper/capsicum)-1
(You can also use yellow Capsicum )
Ripe green chillies-2
Garlic-1
Salt-to taste
Tamarind-1/4 tsp(optional)
Oil-2tsp
Tempering
Mustard-1/4 tsp
Jeera-1/4tsp
Curry leaves
Method
Grind bell pepper,salt,garlic & ripe green chillies.
Pour oil in a pan fry the bell pepper mixture till raw smell disappears.
Heat oil & temper it with above ingredients.
Pour it into the chutney mix & serve it as a side dish for tiffin.
