Microwave Dhokla Recipe / Dhokla Recipe in Microwave

Ingredients for dhokla
Besan/Gram flour-1 cup
Oil-3tsp
(I didn't use)
Salt to taste
Curd-2tbsp
Baking soda-1/2 tsp or ENO - 1/2tsp
( I have used ENO in this recipe, I prefer ENO for best result)
Sugar-1/8tsp
Lime juice-1tsp
Turmeric powder-less than 1/8tsp
Hot water-1/2 cup
Grated ginger & green chillies together-1tsp
Liquid to pour on top
Water-1/4 cup
Salt a pinch
Sugar-1 & 1/2 tsp
Lime juice-1tsp
(mix everything together)
Tempering
Oil-2tsp
Jeera/cumin-1/2 tsp
Mustard-1tsp
Curry leaves few
Chopped green chillies-1/4tsp (optional)
Garnish
Chopped coriander leaves & grated coconut
Method
Grease a glass tray & keep it aside.
Take a bowl mix besan,curd,salt,lime juice,sugar,grated ginger & green chillies.
Pour hot water & whisk it well without any lumps.
Now add the cooking soda mix it well & pour it immediately into the greased tray.
Microwave it for 3 minutes,each microwave is different adjust time accordingly.
Insert a tooth pick if comes out clean then your dhokla is done.
Cut into desired shape & pour the liquid on top while still warm.
Heat oil in a pan & temper it with above ingredients.
Garnish with coriander leaves & coconut.
Serve it with green chutney.

  2. This is the quickest dhokla recipe I have come across, never tried cooking them in microwave before but will definately try it.Looks yummy

  6. I am so happy by the thought ke I can prepare doklas now too.... Thanks a ton Sailaja.... I would love to try this easier microwave version, anytime.... I hope & pray it results well....

  7. I will sure try this in microwave...yesterday me and my friend made Idly's in microwave..came out so well, so I am more confident to try this recipe too..looks so yummy !!

  8. I think the baking soda quantity should be a bit more. Should be around 1/2 tsp, else its nit fluffing up...
